The United States Armed Forces
The military is made up of six branches, each with its own active-duty and part-time components. Each branch varies in the level of service commitment, location and how its members contribute to the overall mission of protecting our country.
Why the Military?
The military offers many different opportunities; training, education, travel, and salaries.
Military Checklist:
- Learn about the various opportunities the military has to offer and see if it is right for you.
- Talk with your parent(s) and/or guardian(s).
- Review Eligibility Requirements for information on how to join.
- Choose the path that is right for you.
- Meet with a Recruiter. A recruiter is the best resource for you if you are interested in the military.
- Take the ASVAB Test.
- Go to the MEPS website and choose a specialty/branch
- Request your transcript in May to be sent to the recruiter/branch.
Military Requirements:
- Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery (ASVAB) Test is typically offered once a year at Grayson High School.
- Students should direct questions about the ASVAB exam to GHS JROTC Instructors.
- You must have a high school diploma to join the military.
