Funding Application and Agreement
College Funding
Dual enrollment is funded by the HOPE Grant. Students in the state of Georgia can take up to 30 hours (approximately ten classes) of approved coursework at eligible institutions. This funding also covers fees and textbooks.
The state will only pay for a class one time, so if you fail a course (or do not earn a "C" or higher in a prerequisite course), the family is responsible for paying for the course a second time. For example, English 1101 is a prerequisite for English 1102. If a student fails or receives a D in 1101, they will need to retake the course at the family's expense.
Students are limited to 30 credit hours of funding total from the state. Course withdrawals are still counted as a funded course(s). It is the student's responsibility to review and track their hours in GaFutures.
High School Funding
Students are required to have a total of six classes (a combination of high school and college courses) on their schedule each semester to meet funding requirements. The only exception to this is if a student is enrolled in four three-hour college courses during the semester, which is considered equivalent to a full schedule or full-time dual enrollment student.
Funding Application and Participation Agreement
After applying to your college, you must complete the Funding Application and Participation Agreement. If you need assistance, this video covers how to complete the application and agreement.
